Northeast Florida
Northeastern Florida was the first part of Florida settled by Europeans, and is sometimes called the “First Coast” as a result. Here, visitors will find the modern metropolis of Jacksonville rubbing up against the historical treasure of one of the U.S.'s oldest cities, St. Augustine, and a myriad of small, quaint little seaside communities like Amelia Island and Flagler Beach all around them.
There's something for everyone in this area. The Jacksonville Jaguars make their home here, while major golf tournaments are regularly played in the surrounding area. Minor league hockey and baseball teams play here as well. Jacksonville is fairly bursting with culture, as its multiple museums, festivals, zoos and botanical gardens can attest. St. Augustine is a wonderful destination for those who love history, or who just enjoy looking at beautiful architecture.
